why is texas roadhouse called that? its a restaurant, not a house! it should be called texas roadrestaurant!!!?

In Texas, a roadhouse is a commercial establishment typically built on a major road or highway, to service passing travelers. That is what they are commonly called in Texas, so naturally, the restaurant was named 'Texas Roadhouse'.

Quick, waitress at Texas Roadhouse or Armettas?!?

Try working both, and see which one u like more, I would go with roadhouse its a chain with opportunity to move up, u could then transfer to cali where we make $8 an hour plus tips

how is it to work at texas roadhouse?

I had a friend that worked there for 2 years. It's easy, it's a chain. She made a lot of friends. HOWEVER, she said she was actually surprised when she got a 15% tip, most people tipped less. I work at a fine dining privately owned chop house, and am shocked when I get 15%, most people leave more. Different class of people. (Her Roadhouse was in a nice town, too. I always wondered why she stayed).

Do you like Texas Roadhouse too?

Yes they are great. Especially the one in Virginia that requested financial compensation incurred by the deaths of two police officers who were killed and their funeral procession blocked the business. What a class act! http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/roadhouse.asp It's not a joke.. these people are really that tacky.

How flexible are places like Texas Roadhouse, Target, etc for students, teenagers?

It all depends on where you live and the manager of the place. As long as you are honest with them when you apply it won't be a problem once you're hired. I personally found the best school-time jobs were places that do lots of birthday parties. These types of places will need more help on days when people host parties (weekends/after school). They also understand about the commitment to school. Another option is something that will help you in school. I worked at Michael's craft store while in high school. It was great because I used my discount on supplies for classroom projects. No matter where you work, you will most likely be making minimum wage as a teenager. Restaurants like Texas Roadhouse can't have a minor as a server (alcohol) so you would only be able to be a greeter or a dishwasher (no tips).

Texas Roadhouse Fried Pickles?

Almost-Famous Fried Pickles. In this month's issue of Food Network magazine, they've attempted to duplicate Texas Roadhouse's famous fried pickles with dipping sauce. The intro tells of a restaurant manager's wife who had a craving for them (and a bun in the oven, perhaps?), so these were created. They became such a hit, they are now served at all of their locations. Yippee Ky Ay! Spread the pickles on paper towels and pat dry. 3 Add half of the pickles to the batter and toss to coat. Remove from the batter using a slotted spoon, letting the excess drip off, and add to the oil one at a time. how does texas road house make their texas tea?

The alcoholic beverage: Texas Roadhouse Tea 2 oz. Vodka 2 oz. Rum 2 oz. Triple Sec 2 oz. Gin 2 oz. Sweet & Sour mix Mixing Instruction mix all ingredients, serve with ice in a 32 oz. mason jar. +++ If you're talking about the tea they serve at Texas Roadhouse, I believe they just serve standard sweet tea...sweet tea's like the official drink of the South, practically. Unless Texas Roadhouse has the tea made elsewhere, they probably make them in the store just like they do anywhere else; you can search recipes for sweet tea on the Internet, and most of them are pretty similar. Texas Roadhouse Orientation?

Is this a "restaurant"? I have a problem if this is a "regular roadhouse" where people come to drink and dance. But otherwise, an orientation is the next step in the employment ladder. You have to learn where they keep the silverware and how to operate the cash register, and stuff like that. You don't want to running around asking people "wheres the napkins"? They are hiring you in order to help with the business, so you need to know this stuff. Good Luck!

Is Texas Roadhouse a good place to eat?

I love Texas Roadhouse. In my opinion the food blows away Outback.. Great steaks etc.. A little noisy as its a party type atmosphere with dancing and peanut shells on the floor. Also the price is about the same as any steakhouse or chain restaurant.. they have a special between 4-6 mon-thurs 7.99 for a entree and 2 sides. pretty damn cheap

Texas roadhouse prime rib?

I've been to Texas Roadhouse three times and they've never had good food or service. I once waited 3 hours for some cold fries. Another time, they were out of both prime rib and cole slaw. The last time, the waiter was unfriendly and slow. I think that the chain might just struggle. :P I would suggest going there for an early lunch on a Sunday. I usually see trucks there on Saturday, so I assume that they would have it the next day. :)

does anyone know how many calories for Texas Roadhouse!?

Oh go have fun and don't worry about it. One meal at a place you never get to go to normally will not hurt you. What's the point of going someplace as delicious as the Roadhouse if you're going to eat like a bird. Order your meal, get a salad with your dressing on the side, avoid the peanuts and the roll. Then just enjoy! If you are truly concerned, I'd stay with the potatoes. The beans will most likely have bacon fat and brown sugar galore in them.

Help need real recipe for the texas roadhouse strawberry banana margarita!?

don't know the official TX roadhouse recipe but I can promise mine'll be better (even given your 99 bananas requirement)(ok, so long as you like a good drink rather than a drink that is either too strong or too sweet to really be able to tell any difference): 1 shot Patron Anejo 1/2 shot Grand Marnier 1/2 shot 99 Bananas Pour into a marg glass filled with ice and 4-6 strawberries. Fill the rest of glass with sour mix. Dump the contents of the glass into a blender and blend. Dump it back into the glass. You can use strawberry syrup instead of fresh strawberries but it will be sweeter. If you do fill the glass with ice and use equal amounts of strawberry syrup and sour mix. If you opt to go for a good drink instead of a strong drink use 1/4 to 1/3 a bananna instead of the 99 bananas. You can even increase the tequila to make it stronger.

Should I be a waiter at Texas Roadhouse, O'charley's or Cracker Barrel?

Texas Roadhouse..... If you are good at your job and give a 100% then I would think this is probably the BEST choice. I know I tip very well when I go there if I like the service. I always tip better when the server makes sure my coffee cup is never empty for too long!! O'Charley's.... I would say definately NOT. The customers are very preppy and if you do not treat them as such you may and up with many PENNY tips. Cracker Barrel...Good place to go eat but not so great for monies. Can be kindof a drag working there compared to a steak house. Good Luck and before you accept any position take the time out to pray about it first:)

texas roadhouse hostess?

As long as you are eligible for tips, the state of Texas & the feds do not require that you receive minimum wage. You are the low man on the totem pole. Do you have any experience prior to this job? If not, you may be having trouble because anyone who walks in and "expects" that they SHOULD receive a certain wage is usually frowned on my management. An advancement is directly proportional to your attitude and any skills you display that would help the position for which you are vying. Unfortunately, hostesses and waitresses are a dime a dozen, so the responsibility to step up is on YOU.

Texas Roadhouse?

That is nasty! There is a Texas Roadhouse here in Fargo, ND and it's sad because what one/two people did in one place sooo far away will now ruin the reputation of all other resturants. I won't be going to the one here now because that's all I can think of...Sick-O! He should be force fed lice filled pubes of his cell-mate in jail!

Are the hamburgers good at Texas Roadhouse?

While great steak is their specialty, the burgers are really good at the Roadhouse. My favorite is the Smokehouse burger. You can do BBQ chicken, too, and the Mushroom Jack chicken sandwich is pretty tasty. They also have BBQ ribs, pulled pork, and grilled shrimp on the menu, so you have lots besides steak to try. I'd hate to see you miss out on the steak, but if you want a different take on it, try the sirloin kebabs They are cooked skewered with some veggies and are fabulous. If you do feel like sampling the steak though, they do have a couple of cuts as small as 6 ounces, and you can pair it with ribs or shrimp to round it out. Enjoy your visit.

Tip sharing at Texas Roadhouse?

You have to tip out someone at almost every restaurant in the country. Its not as bad as it seems. Texas Roadhouse is a typical corporate restaurant chain where tip out is 1-2 percent of your before tax sales. I'm used to tipping out 1.5% to the busser and 1.5% to the bartender. That's only $12-$15 on $800-$1000 in sales on a semi busy night. As to the environment. I've never worked there, but I have worked at a few corporate restaurants, one of which was a low end steakhouse like Texas Roadhouse. It all depends on the management, the customer demographic in your area, and what kind of people you have to work with.

What is grill shortening?? (Texas Roadhouse)?

I am the executive chef of four restaurants that just implemented gluten menus last year. Rice IS gluten free, but they probably put something in the rice that ISNT gluten free. This could be anything from "natural flavors" to "hickory flavor" to "caramel color".... The possibilities are endless. Grill Shortening is literally a large brick of animal fat that they use on a flattop (griddle,) to cook items. It is not gluten free, but I don't know why a typical soybean oil or a canola oil is not being used, as grill shortening is full of trans fats and absolutely disgusting. I dont know why there would be grilled items going into this grill shortening, but I read it was the Texas Roadhouse. That place is not exactly the spitting image of "good restaurant." Stay away from that shit hole... If you need any advice on gluten free foods, message me; Id be happy to help.

Dinner for 2 at Texas roadhouse?

Define roadhouse in the context in which you meant it. I have found some of the best beef ever cooked over an open flame pit and I have found some places that I would not drink a bottle of good water from. If you know the spot is clean and the food is tasty then absolutely. Never a good first date idea because it's too early for testing or proving points, but if that's the type of place you frequenty then it saves times if you don't put airs on up front.

how to make texas roadhouse chile?

This recipe comes to us courtesy of Jimmy Bannos and John DeMers from their cookbook, "The Heaven On Seven Cookbook. Where It's Mardi Gras All the Time!" Yee-Haa! It's Texas, podnuh, so that means no beans in this chili. But there is plenty of meat, from pork loin ends to beef stew meat to ground beef. I think you'll like the taste that comes from the different types of chile peppers. Ingredients * 6 tablespoons vegetable oil, corn oil is most traditional. * 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes * 1 1/4 pounds pork stew meat (pork loin ends work well), cut into 3/4-inch cubes * 2 pounds lean ground beef * 2 cups diced yellow onion * 1/4 cup seeded, diced jalapeno * 2 tablespooons roasted garlic puree (see below for this recipe) * 3 cups water * 12 ounces golden Texan or Mexican beer (such as Lone Star or Corona) No light beers! * 1 tablespoon minced chipotle chiles in adobo sauces, plus 1 tablespoon of the adobo sauce (This product is a canned item found in Mexican grocery stores, or big grocery stores that have a good-sized imported foods section). * 1 tablespoon Hungarian sweet paprika * 1 tablespoon Spanish, Mexican, or new Mexico paprika * 1 tablespoon chile powder * 1 tablespoon ground cumin * 1 tablespoon ground Mexican oregano (if unavailable, Greek oregano is OK, but you'll need to use 1.5 Tbsp since it isn't as strong.) * 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt * 1/4 teaspoon ground ancho chile powder * 1/4 teaspoon ground New Mexican chile pepper * 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper * 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper * 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes * Pico de Gallo Salsa (see below for this recipe) Serves / Yields Serves 8-10 Preparation Instructions Heat a large (7-quart) Dutch oven, preferably enameled cast iron, over high heat until very hot, at least 5 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of the oil. When the oil is hot but not smoking add the beef stew meat and brown on all sides for 3 to 4 mnutes, stirring frequently. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the meat to a large bowl and drain fat from the pan. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the pan and brown the pork for 3 to 4 minutes. With a slotted spoon, transfer the pork to the bowl holding the beef; drain fat from the pan. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and brown the ground beef; this takes appoximately 5 minutes. Transfer to the bowl holding the other meat. Add the onion, jalapeno and garlic puree to the pan; saute for 5 mintues. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over high heat and simmer uncovered, for 10 minutes. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours. Serve bowl of chili topped with a small portion of the salsa. Helpful Hints The beer you use in this recipe does make a difference. "Light" beers don't work well and heavy or brown beers also don't work well. MGD, Keystone, Coors regular or extra gold, or Regular Budweiser will work OK. If you can't use beer, then an equal amount of unsweetened, orange pekoe tea like Lipton is a possible substitute. But a poor one! Texas style chili usually contains lots of meat but no beans. If you like them, add drained and rinsed canned kidney, black, or pinto beans near the end of cooking. But then it won't really be true Texas chili. Except for possibly in South Texas where people put Pico de Gallo on nearly everything, this dish is not usually served topped with pico de gallo. But the Pico de Gallo does make a nice garnish and tastes good with the chili too!! Where I lived (Houston), this dish was served with minced mild 1015 onions and shredded monterey jack cheese instead. :) To reheat refrigerated chili, thin with a little stock or water. ---------- Roasted Garlic Puree ngredients 1 cup peeled garlic cloves 1 cup extra virgin olive oil Serves / Yields Makes 1 cup Preparation Instructions Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Place the garlic in a small ovenproof container and pour in the oil. Use additional oil if needed to completely immerse all the garlic cloves. Cover the container with aluminum foil and roast 1 hour, until garlic is soft and light golden brown. Strain the garlic and place in a blender along with 2 tablespoons of the oil. Puree to a smooth consistency, adding a small amount of oil if neccessary. Pour into a container and cover the top of the puree with a thin layer of the oil. Cover and store in the refrigerator. Reserve the remaining garlic-infused oil in another container and refrigerate. ----------- Pico de Gallo 2 cups (about 4 medium) plum tomatoes, diced 3 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced 2 teaspoons jalapeno, seeded and minced 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper Makes 2 cups Preparation Instructions Combine the salsa ingredients in a small bowl, cover, and refrigerate until needed for up to 3 days. http://www.thespicehouse.com/recipes/texas-roadhouse-chili-recipe

texas roadhouse?

Texas Roadhouse is one of my favorite restaurants, maybe I am partial since I went to Texas A&M and was introduced to the restaurant while there and fell in love....Now I am in CT and it is just as great here, the steaks are better than other chain restaurants around (applebees, outback etc) and the sides are to die for! Esp the bread and sweet butter!
