What could i use instead of cointreau or grand marnier for sangria?

I make sangria for my poker night. It is a bunch of middle aged moms. I take a carafe of Paul Mason wine (actually found it to be the best after buying more expensive ones), 1/2 bottle of sprite, 1/2 cup sugar, fruit (lemons, limes, apples, oranges, strawberries etc) In a pinch I used frozen fruit with the peaches and melons and it was great. You can omit the sprite but I didnt want anyone getting loopy and accusing me of taking their money that way!

What is a good sweet red wine to make Sangria with?

Hello there..... My sister in law is from Barcelona, Spain. She said that you can use any good red wine. The trick is not the sweet wine but the sweet things that you put into it. Like 7-up, real fruit juice and then the fruits with orange and lemon slices. You cannot get more authentic than someone from Spain. LOL Take Care, Stay Well.

What is your favorite Sangria recipe?

You may use the Gallo wine or any other inexpensive wine than comes on gallons recipients. Wash a lemon, cut it in pieces without peeling it, squeeze the juice in the wine and throw the pieces in. The same with an orange. Peel an apple, cut it in pieces also and do the same.Add sugar to taste. I use a cup and a half. 1/4 of a cup of brandy or tequila and about 2 cups of ice cubes. The last 2 ingredients could be adjusted according to how strong you want it to be. Be careful, goes down smoothly, but it is strong. Have a wonderful party.

This one from http://www.recipezaar.com sounds great! 1 (750 ml) bottle inexpensive fruity medium-bodied red wine 1 (750 ml) bottle coconut rum (I use Captain Morgan) 1 large fresh orange 1 fresh lime 1 fresh lemon 5 fresh kiwi 1 lb green grapes 1 fresh mango 1 lb fresh strawberries Wash and cut the fruit into small chunks. You do not need to peel the fruit, just wash and chunk. Place the cut fruit pieces into a large cooler. (We buy the styrofoam disposable coolers with the lid.) Pour the full contents of the red wine and rum over the fresh fruit, mixing and stirring. Cover the cooler and and let sit for at least 24 hours in a dark cool place. (This is the hard part.). Serve the mixture by spooning out with a laddle into cups with the fruit and liquid. Can be poured over ice, but is equally as good straight from the cooler.
