What are good gift ideas for asian grandmother's on mother's day?

What's the best gift I should give to my mother during the mother's day?
I think the best Mother Gift is a personalized one.
Scrapbook may be a good idea. It is the most creative and thoughtful gift for mom on Mother's day, i think. Make a digital scrapbook and print out to send as Mother's Day gift.
Yesterday, i found an activity about free getting scrapbook software on facebook, which is to share the news and get 10 "like" , and then you can get a free registration code.
I participate it, but haven't get one yet...:D This is the activity page, http://www.wondershare.com/store/mothers-day.html#173
What should I do for my boyfriend to remember his mom on Mother's Day?
It really depends on his feelings. I personally would be extremely uncomfortable if my boyfriend brought up my father on father's day (he passed away 5 years ago). It may just be better for him to ignore it. You invited him, but he declined - so I'm inclined to believe he would prefer being left alone. It would be painful for me to be around that, when I could just distract myself with something fun.
Everyone handles losing a parent differently, let him come to you.
What are the right words to say in an email for Mother's Day to friends who've lost a mother?
I never had a mom growning up. I remember one year i had a friend let me borrow her mom. :)
She gave her to me for mothers day. That was the greatest.
I think you should say something about how, mothers day isn't just about biological mothers, but about the women in your life that you look up to. That helps you. Whether that's your best friend, or in my case, my DAD!! lol.
Let them know that maybe some of the pieces may be missing but a family made of friendship, is better than just any old family.
What color jewlry should i get my mom for mother's day?
Good call on the jewelry. Check out some of these suggestions for Mother's Day gifts- http://store.jewelryninja.com/store/c/307-Mother-s-Day-Gifts.aspx I think that you could also do birthstone jewelry that includes her birthstone or her childrens' birhtstones. Best of luck!
I suggest Strawberry and Chantilly Millefoglie!
Is the italian version of the French pastry Mille-feuille (“thousand leaves”) filled with delightful Chantilly cream and garnished with strawberries and confectioners sugar.
For me it's a very tasty, decadent cake..
If you want to try to make it, this is the recipe: 1 hour for the preparation + 10 minutes for cooking
- 1 lb puff pastry
- ⅜ oz confectioners sugar
- ½ cup milk
- ½ stick vanilla
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 ½ oz sugar
- ⅜ oz all-purpose flour
- 4 ½ oz whipping cream
- ⅜ oz confectioners sugar
- 12 strawberries
for the garnish:
- 4 strawberries
- confectioners sugar to taste
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Unfold 1 puff pastry sheet and gently roll it out into a 12 inch piece with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface. Place it into a large buttered baking sheet, and prick it all over with a fork. Trim any overhang of the pastry with a knife.
Cut each sheet into rectangular pieces measuring 3 x 1.5 inches. Sprinkle them with sugar and then bake in a heated oven at 350° F until the pastry is puffed and golden (approx 15 minutes). Let it cool on the racks.
To prepare the Chantilly Cream:
Boil the milk being careful to not burn it.
Whisk the egg yolk and sugar, add the flour and continue to mix. Pour in part of the hot milk in order to obtain a smooth cream. Add the vanilla stick, allowing it to aromatize the mixture and add the remaining milk very slowly.
Cook over moderate heat and keep mixing until it is thickened. Let it cool quickly. Whip the cream and add it to the Chantilly Cream.
On the serving plate, spread part of the cooled pastry cream mixture over one puff pastry cake base. Make a second layer, repeating the previous step.
Cover it with a third puff pastry cake. Decorate the top and the plate with cubed strawberries, and powdered sugar.
If you want, you can add few drops of balsamic vinegar on the top for maximum gourmet results.

Happy mother's day :)
What if your man got you the same mother's day present as his mother?
be thankful he remembered. In my house I have to buy all the birthday presents and xmas gifts - including my own!
Flowers say - I remembered but didn't know what to get you, next year drop some hints about a spa break or dinner ect. and by hint I mean "I would love to go for a spa break for mothers day/birthday, Here's all the details." really it's the only way.
How do you wish a Happy Mother's Day to a mother that you haven't had for 4 years?
Just go about it in a normal, understated way. Buy her a card, some chocolates maybe and take her out for a day, go to the movies, get pedicures, something simple like that. Don't make a big production out of it, just very simply say, Happy Mother's day. You dont need a card to delve into all the drama that you want to put behind you. It's a new start, a simple card will be fine.
What special things do your hubby and kids have planned for you for mother's day?
Yesterday my husband treated my own mother and me to lunch and then he came home and made me dinner last night. He bought me a Sally Huss purse ( i absolutely love her!) and a beautiful locket. Today he and I took the kids to McDonalds and let them play for an hour and a half (hardly anyone was there! PERFECT!) and then when we went and put some beautiful flowers on his mother's grave. We came home and I got the kids ready and we went to my mom's house to give her her gifts. When we got home, my hubby had dinner prepared!! It's been the best Mother's Day ever!! You know I'm gonna have to give it up tonight!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!>>>>
Do you know a good place to get Hummingbird Feeders for mother's day?
any store will have them and you don't have to buy the food that they have you can mix boiling water with sugar 2 parts water to 1 part sugar add red food coloring let cool and put in feeder refrigerate the rest use within a week
Do you start celebrating Mother's Day during pregnancy?
My boyfriend sent me a mothers day card last year whilst I was pregnant. We didn't know the sex, so it had a spaceship (mothership!!!!) with one pink and one blue space person hanging off it by a cord. Very appropriate and imaginative. I loved it!
I quite agree, there is little worse than parents opting to have a day that is nowhere relevant to any parental moments at all for validation of their endeavors and what they have "given" up to be a mother. Everyday is Mother's day for me, from simply seeing my children's smiling faces in the morning before school to our outings we take together. I do not need a day dictated by others to enjoy my family and feel appreciated, it's a regular thing in our home.
Edit: My, you look familiar, you resemble my darling daughter and even share her name. How lovely.
How early should you order flowers for Mother's day?
Some places allow you to order ahead of time and they will send them out on the day that you want them to be arrived. Then there's businesses that don't allow you to. So it's really up to you.
I would suggest ordering them ahead of time that way you can choose the type of flower bouquet you want your mother to have. I say this because places might run out of the popular brands of flowers and you might not get the best choices.
If you choose to order ahead of time I'd try to get it done at least by Wednesday.
Hope this helps =].
What should I get my religious relative for Mother's Day?
Hmmm for religious female relatives, all I can think of is maybe a Wall Art that could have some artwork of nature or wildlife or even small MarqArt velvet lined boxes to store small trinkets. You don't sound the religious sort, so maybe you should steer clear off anything religious - you don't want to give them something they don't believe in - their religion may preach something totally different! Art is the best bet and I've given some MarqArt jewelry boxes for my aunt and grandmom and they love it. Check it out..the prices are also very reasonable.
What is the traffic like on Mother's Day going to LA from the IE?
If you take the 5 north, you're going the wrong way, hon.
Once you get to the East LA Interchange, look for the 101 instead. The 101 takes you through Hollywood, and there's an offramp for Hollywood Blvd that's blocks from the Pantages. The 5 will take you the wrong way, so don't go that way.
In the off chance that there's a jacknifed truck somewhere on the 60 or the 101, why not be safe and leave extra early, get to the Hollywood area, park the car and take a nice stroll, have a bite at one of the many restaurants near the Pantages, and get to the theater unhurried? I would leave no later than 10am, just to be safe. Even on weekends, the traffic in and around LA can be every bit as bad as rush hour, and you're looking at 60-90 minutes even without traffic, depending on where you are in Riverside. When you factor in possible traffic tie ups, even 10am night be pushing it.
Best of luck !!

Mami Tzue Kuai Lok- in Hokkien (this is real)

Is there a proper etiquette for giving a Mother's Day card to a friend whom just lost her daughter?
I would give her a "thinking of you" card rather than a mother's day card -- and in a handwritten note, just tell her you are thinking of her on this day, knowing that it must be a hard day to endure. Then, give her some affirmation that she will be wonderful mother to her little grandson -- and that she's the perfect person to do it, since she is the one who raised and cared for his mother when she is little.
You really have to hand it to these grandmas who, for whatever reason, end up raising their grandkids.
What should a little kid make for her Mother's day breakfast?
Freshly squeezed orange juice is a safe thing for a child to make. A bit of work but that's the whole point (just make sure the oranges are thin skinned and good juicing oranges).
Chocolate dipped strawberries? Melt chocolate chips in the microwave - only a few seconds or it will burn. They don't have to be fully melted-some chunks are ok- because those will melt when the chocolate is stirred. Also it will be melted but not terribly hot. I have had the kids help out with this just taking care with their fingers to hold onto the end of the strawberry and not dip it all the way).
I assume there will be an adult present to do some prep? You say no oven but how about stove top? Or toaster?
How about cutting heart shapes or some other shapes with cookie cutters out of slices of bread, and toasting them?
I know the kids like playing with whipped cream.
What does Mom like? Cereal? Maybe make a pretty breakfast type parfait in a glass dish. Layer of yogurt first, then cereal, then strawberries or grapes or bananas or berries, then more yogurt, etc.
Another idea would be to have them help making crepe or pancake batter the day before. Grownup makes the crepes or the pancakes, and the kids can decorate the pancakes (or use cookie cutters on them) or stuff the crepes with whipped cream or ice cream and fruit or chocolate sauce or chocolate chips etc.
How have being a mother has change your life this mother's day?
It is awesome to be a mother, I can't think of anything in this world better. Having Dylan has gave me a whole new purpose in life..He is such a blessing from god. 6 months before I found out i was pregnant my dad died, and me and my husband was TTC for a few years and no luck..My dad before he passed away told me he would send me a baby. 6 months later..I found out I was pregnant. So I truely do believe he was sent from above!
Also it has given me a whole new respect for my mother, it makes you really appreciated what your mom done for you, and you really don't realize how much she loves you until you have a child and know what "mothers love" really is about!
Happy Mothers day to all the mommies out there!!
What are the best and least expensive pink flowers for mother's day?
The least expensive would be a bouquet of carnations. They are the cheapest flower, generally.
However, for the same price you could probably get a stargazer (a huge white and pink lily), and even just one of those is magnificent and beautiful and they smell heavenly!
But I also wanted to say good for you on donating your money. I know you didn't do it for accolades, but it was a very generous thing to do. =)
How have being a mother change your life this mother's day?
My daughter changed my life nearly 6 years ago. I was 18 years old pregnant and dead scared . I trained as a vetinary nurse, got a job and found a cute little house in boca. Then April was born and my world turned upside down. The moment she was born i was worried i wasnt gonna cope well, but i tried my hardest to raise the best little girl i could. Now shes 5 and doing well. April has arthritis, but she copes well and her determination with my horses are amazing.
Now im pregnant again with my 2nd and hoping to raise another brilliant child. Thre is nothing that could be better right now.
How can I make mother's day extra special on a little budget?
Are you giving your mother a gift because it is from your heart or because you are following some tradition of what is done for "Mother's Day?" How meaningful is a gift when it is given because a certain day calls for such? Afterwhile, it becomes a routine.
What ever happened to the old-fashioned gift giving from your heart. Consider the following principles from the Bible.
2 Corinthians 9:7: "Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Romans 12:8: "Or he that exhorts, [let him be] at his exhortation; he that distributes, [let him do it] with liberality; he that presides, [let him do it] in real earnest; he that shows mercy, [let him do it] with cheerfulness."
Yes, he that distributes, let him do it with liberality, or with freedom. No strings attached. I am giving this to you because today is "...Day" or today is your birthday, so here is your gift. It is Christmas Day and this is my gift to you. Here is a classic, a box of chocolates and roses are purchased by a man and given to his girlfriend, or wife. Do you see where the liberality is lost? Why are these gifts being given?
Why wait a whole year to give a gift to someone "whereas YOU do not know what YOUR life will be tomorrow." (James 4:14) Give from the heart, not just because of a holiday or a special day commemorated to one group of people. Just think, Mothers are to be loved daily, not just on Mother's Day. That should not be only day when Mothers are recognized and appreciated. You can tell your mother (or anyone else's mother) how much you appreciate them in your life. You do not have to wait a whole year to say that. Who says the two of you will be alive the same time next year. You see how "time and unforseen occurrence befall us all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
This is a good lesson for anyone and everyone. I am sure that there are many people that you appreciate in a year's time. Should they be deprived from you telling them how much you appreciate them? Let them know they are appreciated. Just think. People on their birthday expect gifts to come to them in some form. Children on Christmas Day expect gifts. Mothers on Mother's Day expect comments from the public, "Happy Mother's Day" or they expect some sort of card or gift.
In December or some other off-time, why not go to the local drug store, supermarket or retail store and pick up a "Thank You" card or a card geared for Mothers or Fathers or Husband or Wife or Son or Daughter and what have you and give it to them. Or the same can apply when getting a certain gift. Do you understand the point? The gift is not expected. No gift was expected if the time is nowhere near a special day.
That is giving from the heart. Also, you will notice that the pressure of having to people gifts on special days no longer becomes an issue. And you feel much better because of it. The best gifts are when they are given at a time when it is not expected. That is the practice of true giving, the one "that distributes with liberality," without strings attached.
Mother's Day is a holiday honoring mothers, celebrated (on various days) in many places around the world. Mothers often receive gifts on this day.
People in different countries celebrate Mother's Day on various days of the year because the day has a number of different origins. One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Mother worship — which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of gods, and (mythology), the wife of Cronus; was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March (March 15 to March 18). The Romans also had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though mothers were usually given gifts on this day.
In the United States, Mother's Day is copied from England by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War with a call to unite women against war. She wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation. Today, some organizations are working to revive Howe’s original vision of a holiday that celebrates peacemaking by mothers and others. In the UK, the day now simply celebrates motherhood and thanking mothers. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.
In most countries, Mother's Day is a new concept copied from western civilization. In many African countries, the idea of one Mother's Day has its origins in the British concept, although there are many ancient festivals that celebrate mothers within the many diverse cultures on the African continent as well. In most of East Asia, Mother's Day is a heavily marketed and commercialized concept originating from Mother's Day in the USA.
Here are some ideas :) These articles give some great tips for mother's day gifts!!!!!!!!
and this one too
Hope this helps you a little!!!! I like the "of the month" club one :)
Because our society is disgustingly materialistic.
I read an article in our local paper here last week about divorced mothers, and how they find it necessary to send reminders via the children to their ex-husbands to ante up and buy something nice for them for mother's day because 'otherwise they'd just get the handmade card their kids did at school'.
There was a poster on here earlier today complaining that her husband didn't think he needed to buy her anything because she's not his mother, and the women basically seemed to agree he was a disrespectful jerk who clearly didn't respect her or something like that.
Honestly, the things I sometimes see women say here ... if I weren't allready married ... it would really put me off.
Here's one of my favourite ewbsite. Im form AUstralia, so its Australian...
Then in the searchbar, just say for example you wanted to have grilled tuna, you type in 'grilled tuna' and it will come up with a recipe that has tuna in it, or 'grilled vegetables with tuna' basically any recipe with any of the words you typed in.
I love this site so much. Check for how many stars the recipe got, too.
Honey Lemon Pork Chops (serves 8)
8 pork loin chops
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
¼ cup water
¼ cup honey
½ tsp lemon rind
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp cornstarch
4 lemon slices
Procedure: Place the pork chops in a deep dish or Pyrex pan. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside. In a bowl, combine the honey, lemon rind, lemon juice, garlic, and parsley, then pour over the pork chops. Microwave on medium heat for about five minutes, then rotate the dish and microwave another 15 minutes. Turn the dish every 3 minutes to make sure the pork cooks evenly. Remove the pork and mix the water and cornstarch with the remaining mixture on the dish. Microwave until the sauce boils. Pour the sauce over the pork while it’s still warm.
Sesame Chicken Fingers
1 kg chicken cutlets
¾ cup flour
½ kg break crumbs
½ cup sesame seeds
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp white pepper
Procedure: Slice the chicken into bite-sized strips. In a bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Beat the eggs and set aside. In a separate bowl, combine the sesame seeds and bread crumbs. Dip the chicken fingers in the flour mixture, then in the eggs, then in the bread crumbs.
Deep fry the chicken fingers in a saucepan (the foam will overflow on a frying pan). Turn the heat up as high as possible without making the oil smoke. Cook the fingers until golden brown, then remove from oil and drain. Serve with chutney, sweet and sour sauce, or barbecue sauce.
