Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968)
A man cannot ride your back unless it is bent ...
No one can take advantage of you unless you allow them too, No one can hurt you unless you let those words hurt you.. you can choose to ignore them and stay focused, in other words.
A riot is at the bottom of the language of the unheard ....
those who use anger and violence to solve their problems, or attack that which they dislike / feel threatened by, do not hear anything anyone says. You cannot reason with this type of person, they know only their hate and violence, do not fuel their fire ..walk away if you can.
A Lie Cannot Live...
A lie can be told, and retold but eventually the truth will be known and the lie will die once the truths are out in the open for all to see.
This is my take on each and I hope this helps you ...
I always loved Martin Luther, and was sadden back then when i seen on TV the news of his death... I realized later the impact of that news report.....
An individual's alliances are more important to them than the opinions of their adversaries. If a friend doesn't stand up for you when you are being attacked, their lack of defending you is going to hurt a Hell of a lot more than being insulted by some idiot.
It would be helpful to know the context, but it seems to me that he's talking about how our all people in our society are inter-linked. Think about the breakfast thing for a minute- someone had to make that cereal, probably hundreds of workers contributed to it. Some farmer in China probably grew the rice for your rice crispies, who in turn depends on his suppliers and workers (well, actually, the farm is probably owned by some American corporate fatcat, but that's beside the point). There are soldiers keeping the country safe, so you don't have to worry about being attacked or bombed while you eat. People built the house you live in, and you depend on them to have built it well so it doesn't fall on your head. In a way, for your life to go on peacefully, you depend on thousands of other people to do their jobs correctly.
That's my guess, anyway. Where he was going with that, I'm not sure. It would depend on the context.
