What Software/Hardware does the electro band Justice use?
right its mainly software based but they use:
the Power Mac G5,
Apogee Ensemble Recording Interface,
JazzMutant Lemur Input Device,
Pioneer's CDJ-1000MK2 turntable,
microKONTROL midi controller,
and heres another answer I gave on a basic way of electronic music:
well, I would say a synthesizer would be the complete basics for any aspiring music maker, there is lots of choices for synthesizer a digital where its a lot more computer based using what are called presets, digital synthesizers are a lot more cheap and are a lot less money to maintain. the second type of synthesizers are vintage they are old, and give the generic synthesizer knob twiddling look and take a while to understand everything they are also a lot pricey and cost a arm and a leg to maintain but with all synths it depends on the model, I mean some moog will not be cheap while something from m-audio is going to be cheap, shop around!
Answering your question of a vocoder a few digital synths have a vocoder built in like the Korg R3, I managed to build a "ghetto" talk box you can get a basic vocoder then and possibly remake around the world.
a Drum machine is a drum in a machine like a synth there are lots of models of these ranging in price, if recommend a roland if you have the money but shop around again. dont forget a mixer, they connect the various instruments together usually through MIDI,
hopefully I have scratched the surface of electronic music for you :)
once again dont go into the music world like "I KNOW IT ALL NOW" i only just found out and its still complicated and pricey look for tutorials ect dont forget stuff like ableton and soft synths too.
So who's going to the Electric Daisy Carnival and who do you want to see!?
Darn, I'd really like to go but have no one to go with. I lost touch with most of my raving friends.
Saturday has a sick line-up in the Kinetic Field: Fatboy Slim, Paul Van Dyk, David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Kaskade
Others I would see are:
Kinetic Field: Paul Oakenfold, ATB
Bass Pod: Dieselboy
Circuit Grounds: Infected Mushroom, Cosmic Gate
Cosmic Meadows: Roger Sanchez
Bass Pod: DJ Hype
Can anyone recommend me some hard, dirty, detroit techno?
Tresor and Ostgut Ton are great labels for rough, minimal techno.
Anything by Jeff Mills is good. Stuff like this....
Marcel Fengler and Skudge are worth trying. I think Skudge is a label, as well as an artist....
Deuce (Dettmann & Klock)....
Imax, Redshape, Rod Modell, Shed, Jonas Kopp, James Ruskin, Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound, Shinichi Atobe, Kassem Mosse, Ben Sims, Oscar Mulero, British Murder Boys, Sandwell District, Regis and the mighty, mighty Surgeon are all other artists you should check out too.
what free program can i use to edit a picture with this effect?
The best free image editing software out there is GIMP, but of course you will have to spend some time on it to learn and to be able to produce the desired effect.
from the GIMP website:
GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.
I need the name of some techno artist who have these artist styles?
Trentemoeller,Booka Shade,Telefon Tel aviv,Apparat,Modeselektor, check out the artist from Boyz Noize Records .Check out labels on myspace: Great Stuff Records,,Cocoon,Ovum ,Bpitch control and check out top friends where you can find the artists who work for the labels.
Simian Mobile Disco,Ed Banger records is a good place to look for artists,Kaskade
You should try Martyn's remix of the Flying Lotus tune called "Roberta Flack". It's fairly similar to the original but the beat is definitely more hard hitting and direct. Good bassline too.
Other tracks by him that are more uptempo would be...
Do The Astral Plane
Dance Floor Stalker
Secrets (Soundmurderer Refix) - this turns into d'n'b about half way through.
They should all be on youtube.
Wow picking just one... I don't think I can.
Grum was great, Cosmic Gate killed it, Laidback Luke was an orgasm personified, Above & Beyond were great, Victor Calderon went hard, and Armin was just... well... How to describe Armin? He was great. Axwell was class.
John Digweed (only saw a fraction of it) was great

What are good programms for a Dj and to create music?
ok lets get this straight....Dj'ing and producing/creating music ARE NOT THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!! Its either one program or the other. And if you dont want to use fl studios....then your screwed. You need a DAW Digital Audio Workstation (like fl studios) to make music, if you don't want to use one then i suggest you record your music live, cause software wont be they way for you. So i know you dont want any software along the lines of fl studios, but most are very similar and fl studios is probably the most easy and user friendly of them all, so other softwares will just be more complicated. I would highly recommend using Ableton Live but its way more advanced than fl studios, thats why i think its best to learn using fl studios but if you are not willing to do so then.......you could use....Mario Paint or somethin like that. Anyways as for Dj'ing software I would recommend Traktor Pro, Torq, or Serato Scratch Live. Oh, and about getting it for free.....you'll just get crap software for free....unless it is illegally downloaded, but the problem with that is that it may have nasty viruses or trojans, and its ILLEGAL. So, save some money or get a job and pay for it like everyone else, plus if you happen to get a nice software you'll feel accomplished for saving up to buy it and you can rub it in other people's faces.
Where can I find particular songs from the Gta 4 Soundtrack?
google 'gta 4 soundtrack listing' or 'track listing'
then type the individual names of the songs into uTube to confirm its the right one
then if it is either download using limewire, torrents, i tunes, or buy the whole albulm of that artist
Which is the music production software for me Ableton or Reason?
Propellerheads Reason, Ableton Live, Steinberg Cubase, Apple Logic, et cetera can all be used for every musical genre. When only looking at Propellerheads Reason and Ableton Live, the most important question to ask yourself is if you will be working with VST's or not. Propellerheads Reason does not support VST's, whereas Ableton Live does. Both have a different way of working for the rest, so it is a matter of personal preference. Propellerheads Reason gives you more of an instrument feel in my opinion, but still I prefer Ableton Live, as it works very intuitively.
Definitely the MicroKorg, so many bands and producers use them for live shows , they're fairly cheap and have tons of functions including a Vocoder for voice manipulation
i bought mine about 5 years ago and it was $900, but that's Aussie Dollars and it was a fair while ago.
The only way for your music to be recognized is to be out there performing. Justice and especially Daft Punk were only recognized when they could fill a room. The best advice i can give you is to play, play, play. The number one thing is to have an ear for music and recognize which sounds are compatible. Anybody can cut and paste the beats but it takes a lot to recognize when you have something that will resonate with the listener, and make them want more.
Cum on feel the noize...girl rock the boys...who likes this song, and how many of you have it on vinyl?
That song, like "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", was originally done by Slade, then covered by Quiet Riot. My vinyl copies of Slade's SLAYED? and STOMP YOUR HANDS, CLAP YOUR FEET were lost in a rent dispute in 1982 (along with approx 500 other albums & my stereo!) - my boom box ate my METAL HEALTH cassette
Any Dj that's awesome like Boys Noize or DeadMau5?
oh, where do I start!!? OK, I'll give it a go. Your music taste is right up my alley. Check out all these songs:
Justice- Phantom part I and II, Let There Be Light, Waters Of Nazareth, Genesis, 2 minutes to midnight
Teenage Bad Girl- Cocotte, Hands Of A stranger
DatA (incredible group) - J'aime Pas L'art, Minuit Jacuzzi (Tepr remix), Aerius Light, master level, paste back, rapture
Mr Oizo- flat beat
(Boys Noize- Lava lava (this one is fantastic), & Down, War
Deamau5- Ghosts n Stuff (amazing song), Faxing Berlin, Word problem)
Danger (check out some songs by them, incredible group)
Bloc Party- Talons, Hunting For Witches
Simian Mobile Disco- We Are Your Friends
The Prodigy- (these guys are sick, just have a look at their songs and choose)
The Black Ghosts- any way you choose to give it
Pendulum- Hold Your Colour, Blood Sugar, Slam
Dizzee Rascal- Bonkers
Hadouken! (very good, slightly different electro style)
Public Enemy Vs Benny Benassi - Bring The Noise
Chris Lake - Changes (Dirty South remix)
Crookers - We are Prostitutes (sick tune), Knobbers, Lollypop
Danger- 11h30, 19h11, 14h54, 00H00
Aphrodite - Bomber Style, London Massive, Wobble
for house music, check out albums and compilations. Most house artists have one good song, then that's it. I'd suggest Arno Cost, John Dahlback, Sebastian Ingrosso, DJ Clamaran, and !!David Vendetta!! (hold that sucker down, bleeding heart, break for love) especially.
Check out an awesome band called RapidFflow. They just released their new album titled Handful of Ownage and it has some amazing songs on it. Here are some links to some of those songs. Hope this helps.
What software do dj's like Boys Noize, Justice, or even Daft Punk use to make their music?
These artists use lots of gear, not just software like FL Studio and Ableton, but also tons of synthesizers, outboard effect processors etc.
That said, you can use any of the modern digital audio workstations like Ableton Live, FL Studio, Steinberg Cubase, Cakewalk Sonar and more to create this type of music. Most of these programs allow you to use instrument and effect plug-ins to basically infinitely expand your sounds. There are even many quality freeware VST instruments out there that you can use with FL Studio, Ableton, etc. to get more sounds, so don't judge these programs by what sounds come with it. You should try them and see what workflow you like best. Which program you find easiest to work with, that's the one you should go for I think.
My favorite at the moment is FL Studio (I have the Producer Edition, the Signature Bundle is also interesting since it has more instruments and effects for just a little more), and I also use Ableton Live every now and then.
Just try what works best for you, and don't concentrate too much on what these artists use as it's not so much about what they use, it's how they use it. Having the same tools doesn't mean you'll make the same songs anyway.
